Ion-Molecular Reactions

Quantitative information about the rates of ion-molecule reactions is necessary for kinetic modeling in combustion, aeronautics, laser physics, and plasma chemistry. Kintech Lab expertise allows high-level evaluation of the lacking cross sections and rate constants of ion-molecular reactions of different types, including quantum-chemical calculations and model dynamical studies. Models of ion-molecular reactions used by Kintech Lab are based on qualitative physical ideas about the character of electronic potential surfaces of the reacting system and nuclear dynamics for two types of such reactions:

  • bimolecular chemical and charge transfer ion-molecular reaction through intermediate complex
  • direct charge transfer in atomic collisions
